EVREC
EVREC (Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation), a joint venture between Abraxas Power and EDF power solutions, is building one of the world’s largest energy transition projects in Botwood, Newfoundland, Canada.
Using 3.5 GW of 100% renewable wind energy and 150 MW of solar power, EVREC will produce up to 180,000 tonnes of zero-carbon hydrogen and approximately 1 million tonnes of green-certified ammonia every year, offsetting over 1.5 million tons of CO₂ annually.
With a CAD 12B investment, this project will inject $7.8B into the GDP and create 21,600 person-years of employment, transforming the local economy and powering a greener future.

Location
Situated at the mouth of the Exploits River, the town of Botwood, in Central Newfoundland, has a rich history of industrial change that includes logging, shipbuilding, and lumber. Botwood was once home to pioneering aviation activities, including the first trans-Atlantic flights by the famous flying boats and housed an RCAF base during WWII.
The economy of Botwood grew to include a busy shipping port for local pulp and paper-related industries and shipping copper, lead and zinc to the rest of the world. The deep-water port was a vital, bustling hub until the emergence of the internet, when newspapers and physical mail were replaced by digital communication.
The Port of Botwood is one of the closest ports in North America to Western Europe.
OUR MISSION
We’re shaping the future of energy by harnessing the power of wind and solar to be a competitively priced producer of green hydrogen and ammonia globally. Our mission is to deliver clean fuel solutions for global industries—driving sustainability, creating lasting value for our partners and communities, and protecting the planet for generations to come.
To unlock the power of renewables in Newfoundland & Labrador and drive the global energy shift to net-zero. We envision a world where the hardest-to-decarbonize industries are fueled by sustainable energy—and where remote natural resources can spark opportunity, resilience, and climate sustainability.
Sustainability First
We are committed to building a cleaner future—reducing emissions, respecting ecosystems, and developing projects with longevity and minimal environmental, health and community impact throughout the value chain.
Safety Without Compromise
We foster a workplace that puts the health, safety, and well-being of our people, partners, communities and the environment first —ensuring that every step of our work is carried out with the highest standards of care.
Integrity and Transparency
We operate openly, honestly, and with accountability to our team, our stakeholders, communities, and the planet.
Community Partnership
We work collaboratively with local communities to create lasting, positive impact—through job creation, economic development, and respect for local knowledge and culture.
Innovation with Purpose
We unlock opportunities by deploying proven technologies in bold, courageous, forward-thinking ways. Our goal is to lead, not follow, in the global transition to green energy.
Shared Value
We believe responsible and accountable development creates value for all—from shareholders, workers and suppliers to local communities and global partners. Our approach ensures that progress is inclusive, sustainable, and lasting.
At EVREC, we have an inclusive corporate culture and hire based on ability, experience, education and a desire to make a change in the world. We believe that ethnicity, age, preferred pronouns or sexual preference have no bearing on how well a person does a job. We are always looking for dedicated, passionate new team members with the right combination of experience and work ethic.
